If you want the best performance from EVDO (I assume that's all of us
), there is a parameter you should be aware of.
TCP Receive
Window Size = 65536
The easiest way to check or change it is by downloading a copy of Dr TCP from
Broadband Reports.

some useful info:
here are the steps i have done to get what i feel is the most out of this card
and my laptop
1. install verizon software
2. use some type of uninstall software to remove venturi completely
3. use VZAccess Manager once to get connected and make sure everything is
working
4. make sure that VZ Manager is NOT set to run at start up. i see no reason to
use the VZ Manger once i have set everything up because all it does is prolong
my startup times and use my system resources for no reason at all.
5. create a new network connection for your verizon card and name it " verizon "
or whatever you want. this will allow you to connect and stay connected without
running the VZ manager and without losing anything but gaining some system
resources etc...
a) go to My Neywork Places and view network connections
b) select create a new connection
c) hit next and then "connect to the internet"
d) choose set-up my connection manually
e) choose connect using a dial-up modem
f) name it whatever you want
g) phone number is #777
h) user name is "yournumber@vzw3g.com"
i) password is " vzw "
j) you can decide what you want and dont want check in the two boxes on this
page
k) click add a desktop shortcut
6. now use that connection for connecting to the verizon network and you will no
longer need the VZ Manager
7. read the first post in this thread and apply those settings
You should now have a MUCH FASTER running connection to verizon as well as
faster start up times for your laptop without wasting any system resources
