Norton AntiVirus Command Line Scanner

navc10.exe
File size: 1.45M
File Updated: March 30, 1999

navc10.txt
File size: 1K

This is a new edition of our NAV Command-line scanner (NAVC) which can be implemented as a manual detection and removal system for viruses and trojans.

Special instructions for installing and using the special NAVC for W95.CIH:

  • Create a directory called NAVC on your hard disk. You can do this by clicking on "my computer" then clicking on "c:" then going to the file menu and finally selecting "new folder". This will create a folder called "new folder" and it will be highlighted. Rename this folder to "NAVC".
  • Download navc10.exe from above and place it into the NAVC folder that you just created.
  • Insert your Nav Rescue Disk into Drive A: and restart your computer.
  • When your computer restarts it will have a message telling you to insert your Norton Antivirus program disk and type GO to continue. You should IGNORE THIS MESSAGE and instead type "c:" and then press enter. Next type "cd \NAVC" then press enter. Next type "NAVC10" then press enter. At this point it will ask you if you want to unzip files. Type "yes" for yes. When it finishes unzipping the files you are ready to run NAVC and remove W95.CIH from your system.
  • To do this type "NAVC C: /doallfiles /repair". This will run NAVC and remove W95.CIH from your system.
  • After this is complete, remove the floppy from drive A: and restart your system. You should now be back up and running.
